Professor Hu Biliang is a Professor of Economics at Beijing Normal University and Dean of Emerging Markets Institute. He received his Doctorate of Economics from the School of Economics and Management, Witten/Herdecke University in Germany, Master of Science degree jointly by Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok Thailand and University of Dortmund in Germany, and he also conducted a two and half years post-doc research programme in the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. Before joining Beijing Normal University, he had taught Economics of Development in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences for some years as an Associate Professor in early 1990s and a professor after 1998. He had also worked as an economist in the World Bank, a Chief China Economist and VP of Hong Kong based SG Securities Asia Limited, and a private entrepreneur in the IT industry.
